Easy Chocolate Crinkle Cookies Recipe

This Easy Chocolate Crinkle Cookies Recipe is a classic. It’s chocolatey, chewy, and covered in powdered sugar. It’s the perfect Christmas treat, and great for classroom parties, office parties, or anything in between.

Chocolate Crinkle Cookies are a delicious treat for any holiday, including Christmas. These cookies are perfect for cookie exchange parties.

I love chocolate, and these crinkle cookies are the perfect excuse to eat chocolate. The recipe is easy and is one of the best for Christmas exchange parties, potlucks, office treats or taking to the kid’s school.

The recipe makes three dozen cookies, so you’ll have plenty. And, I love the way they bake. After you roll them in powdered sugar, while they bake, they crack open and look so pretty.

What is a chocolate crinkle?

A chewy, chocolatey cookie covered in powdered sugar. When you bake the cookies, they crinkle and the powdered sugar is broken up by chocolate cookie.

The cookies are filled with melted chocolate and rolled in powdered sugar, making it an almost brownie-like treat.

You can add chocolate chips for those of you that love a lot of chocolate, or white chocolate chips.

The crinkle cookies have always been one of my favorite cookies, next to chocolate chip cookies.

Christmas cookie exchange parties are always fun to go to, and these are the perfect addition. I’ve been to parties in the past and they usually require quite a few dozen cookies, so this is a nice recipe that makes three dozen.

The cookies are a good size, as well. Plus, I just think they are so pretty the way they bake and crack, and have lots of powdered sugar.

Kitchenaid Mixer

Before we get started, I just wanted to share my new Kitchenaid Mixer. I am suuuuper excited about it. I love the green apple color. Isn’t it fun?!

I used to have one of the larger professional ones, but I didn’t like that the head didn’t tip back.

This is the 5-quart version and the head tips back. It’s so cool.

Ok, back to the recipe.

Melt the unsweetened chocolate in a small bowl in the microwave and add it to the bowl.

I placed the small bars of unsweetened chocolate in a bowl and microwaved it for about 1-1/2 minutes. I opened the door and stirred the chocolate every 30 seconds. Your microwave might be a little faster or take a little longer.

Can you freeze chocolate crinkle cookies?

Yes! They freeze well. You can make them ahead of parties and freeze for several months. Be sure to give them at least an hour to thaw.

Cookie dough covered in powdered sugar is a treat and a wonderful holiday dessert.

The cookie batter will be thick, but you’ll need to put it in the fridge for about an hour. It will be a lot easier to roll the dough once it is cool.

Sift the powdered sugar and place it into a bowl.

After the dough cools, roll it into 1-inch balls and then cover it with powdered sugar.

I used about a cup of powdered sugar and that was plenty.

Treats for Christmas. This easy chocolate crinkle cookies recipe is an enticing and rich dessert.

Add the cookies to a cookie sheet about 1-1/2-inches apart.

How long do you bake crinkle cookies? Bake for approximately 10-12 minutes.

I really love my stoneware pan. Now that it’s seasoned, cookies slide right off after cooking, and they tend to come out evenly cooked.

If the cookies are a tad undercooked, I can take them out of the oven and leave them on the cookie sheet and they will still bake a little.

How many calories are in a chocolate crinkle cookie? Approximately 98 calories per cookie!
