Sell on eBay for extra money
You’ve heard the saying, “One person’s trash is another person’s treasure.” That saying rings true at eBay.
If you’re looking for some easy ways to make some extra money, eBay is a great place to start. eBay has, for years, been a great place to sell items you don’t need anymore. I’ve sold everything from a vintage coffee pot to camera equipment to cell phones. You name it, it’s on eBay.
Where to find things to sell
If I need some extra money, I will start at one place in the house, and work my way through to the other end, searching for things to sell.
If I start in my closet, I will look for clothes that don’t fit anymore (sadly, it’s a lot). I will pull out the clothes that I no longer wear. I’m guilty of keeping clothes that I “think” I’ll wear when I lose ten pounds or have the perfect shoes to match. Be realistic in your choices. You can’t save everything. It can be like ripping off a band-aid. It hurts, but you need to get rid of it.
Next, as you walk through the house, look for things you no longer use. Picture frames, televisions, watches, Tupperware, coffee pots, dishes, silverware, you name it, and you can sell it. I’ve sold old silverware (even if it’s three spoons), old lamps, and even an old worn out purse.
Once you’ve sold all that you want to sell that is laying around the house, start looking for items at thrift stores. Most stores will have a day or two each week that items are on sale. A couple of the local thrift stores here in town will have a 50 percent off day, which brings down the prices quite a bit. I recently bought several men’s Nike shirts for a mere $2 a piece. You seriously can’t beat that.
Find out if the item will sell
If you’re unsure if an item will sell, or fetch much more than you’re paying, check your eBay app. It’s a very convenient way of figuring out if an item will sell, and for how much.
When you enter an item in the search area, it will pull up a list. For example, on my computer, I typed in “Levi’s 515 jeans.” It pulled up a long list. But, I not only want to know if Levi’s 515 jeans are on sale but how much they are selling for.
On the left, in gray, there is a column where you can tick off specific information. I checked off, “Sold listings.” This gives me the ability to see how much the jeans are selling for. I can list the size, type, etc., in the search bar, and I will get more specific results.
The iPhone app works a little differently.
After you type in what you’re looking for in the search bar, click on “Filter.”
You will be presented with a lot of choices. I usually choose, “Used,” as well as “Sold” listings. “Completed” will automatically check off, because if the items are sold, they are completed.
You will be presented with a list of sold items. So, you can stand right there in the store and look for items, see if they sell, and find out the general price of what they’re going for. Cool, eh?
Take some time before you go to the store to mess around with the eBay app features.
Once you get the hang of it, you’ll be able to find things, as well as sold prices in no time.
If you sell something, let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear from you.
