I love easy recipes because we stay pretty busy around here. For a while, I was running kids all over creation and it’s so much easier to throw things in the Crock Pot and let them cook. And, when we got home, dinner was ready.
Chicken crockpot recipes are fairly inexpensive meals to make for the family so it’s a double win. And this lemon chicken recipe really has great flavor and a bit of a pop to it.
What ingredients do I need to make the easy chicken Crock Pot recipe?

- Chicken breasts
- Chicken broth
- Milk
- Lemon juice
- Minced garlic
- Butter
- Salt and pepper
- Cornstarch
How do I make the Crock Pot lemon chicken?
- Add the chicken to a greased Crock Pot.
- Pour the broth, milk, and lemon juice over the chicken.
- Next, add the minced garlic and onions, cubed butter, and salt and pepper. Cover with lid and cook for seven hours.
- After seven hours, mix cornstarch and water and pour it into the Crock Pot.
- Cook for 30 more minutes to help thicken the liquid.
- Shred the chicken and serve over rice.

Start by adding four chicken breasts to a greased Crock Pot.
You can make this a dinner for two by using a smaller Crock Pot, and cut the recipe in half. This recipe, with four chicken breasts, fed all four of us in the family and we had some leftovers.
Next, pour the water or chicken broth over the chicken.
I used water because I didn’t have any chicken broth on hand. Mine was still incredibly flavorful, but broth will always give things a bit more flavor.
Pour the milk over the chicken.
Now, pour the lemon over the milk.
Some of you are squishing your face together over pouring lemon juice over milk–I can feel it through the screen. It’s ok. It won’t curdle and it turns out delicious. I promise.
Finally, add the butter, dried minced onion, minced garlic, and salt and pepper.
Replace the lid and cook for seven hours on low.
After cooking the chicken for seven hours, remove the lid and add the cornstarch and water to the Crock Pot. That will help thicken the lemon juice gravy a little bit. It won’t be super thick, but thick enough to make a little bit of gravy.
Once you pour the cornstarch into the Crock Pot, shred the chicken with a couple of forks and replace the lid and cook for 30 more minutes.

Drizzle some lemon gravy over the chicken and rice.

Crock Pot Lemon Chicken
This Crock Pot lemon chicken dinner recipe is an easy, budget-friendly meal for a family of two or four. Just add the chicken breasts, broth, milk, lemon juice, garlic, and butter to a slow cooker and let it cook for a few hours.
It's so easy to make and you'll most likely have leftovers. This will quickly become one of your favorite crockpot dinners.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless chicken breasts
- 1/2 cup chicken broth or water
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup lemon juice
- 1 tsp. minced garlic
- 1 tsp. dried minced onion
- 1/2 stick butter, cubed (4 Tbsp.)
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1/2 cup water to mix with cornstarch
Instructions
- Add the chicken to a greased Crock Pot.
- Next, pour in the chicken broth, milk, and lemon juice.
- Add the minced garlic, onion, salt, pepper, and cubed butter, and cover with a lid.
- Cook on low for seven hours.
- Remove lid and mix the cornstarch with the 1/2 cup of water. Pour over chicken. Shred the chicken and replace cover.
- Cook for 30 more minutes. Serve over rice or mashed potatoes.
