Chocolate chip banana cookies are a wonderfully delicious treat. The simple chocolate chip cookies turned out chewy and rich. They are baked to perfection and are an easy cookie to make.
These chocolate chip cookies with banana and dark chocolate chips are almost vegan. A few months ago I was making some cookies at home and figured out right in the middle of the mixing that I didn’t have any eggs.
I did have bananas that I could add to the mix, instead of eggs, and they turned out fantastic. That evening, my oldest’s music teacher came by to give him a lesson, tried the cookies, and loved them.
She and her roommate, who are both vegan, suggested I make some of these cookies for the blog that are all vegan. And, I am so glad they did, because they turned out incredible.
These simple chocolate chip cookies are almost vegan, except for the dark chocolate chips. You can buy vegan chocolate chips, if you’d like to keep the recipe a pure one.
I didn’t think I would like these as much as I did, but they were wonderful. And, they were just as chewy the next day, too. And honestly, these are one of the best cookies I’ve ever eaten – they are that good.
For this recipe, I substituted the eggs with mashed banana and used vegetable oil instead of butter, and they turned out pretty amazing.

Full recipe and printable instructions listed below
Start by mashing the bananas in a large bowl. I used about two bananas to reach half a cup.
Pour the vegetable oil into the bowl.
Next, pour the vanilla extract into the bowl.
Now, add the brown sugar. You can use light or dark, depending on your taste preference. I used light brown sugar since I was using dark chocolate chips.
Pour the white sugar in and mix all of the ingredients together.
Now, add the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt to the mixture. Mix everything together until well blended.
You’ll be adding the two extra tablespoons of flour to the mixture to make sure they are good and thick cookies.
Finally, add the dark chocolate chips to the mix and mix well. You can use vegan chocolate chips for this recipe to make the cookie completely vegan.
I placed the cookies in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes before I cooked them so they wouldn’t spread out as much (learned that trick from a friend).
Scoop the cookies onto a greased cookie sheet.
I used both a metal cookie sheet and my ceramic cookie sheet for this recipe and they both turned out great, but I did like how they turned out on the metal sheet.
I usually like the ceramic cookie sheets better, but I thought they cooked more evenly on the metal sheet this time.
You’ll want to use a large cookie scoop for this recipe, so you can see they they are a pretty good sized cookie and they baked perfectly.
Bake at 350-degrees for about 13 to 15 minutes, or until they are a little bit golden like in the photo above.
Every oven is different, so I would check after 13 minutes to see how they are doing.
These cookies were amazing and turned out so decadent. The chocolate chip banana cookies really are the perfect treat for gifts, parties, cookie exchanges, or to just bake at home and eat (’cause trust me, it will be hard to share).
